Questions people ask
How is the health of your cells maintained?
Cells stay healthy when they have the raw materials they need, such as vitamins, minerals, amino acids and energy, and when they can clear waste and cope with stress. Many cell processes rely on enzymes that need vitamins and minerals to work. Sleep, nutrition, infection, inflammation and exposure to toxins can all affect this. Learn more
How might unhealthy cells be linked to mental health issues?
Brain and nerve cells depend specifically on minerals, as well as other nutrients and oxygen, to maintain cell health. Researchers are studying whether things like oxidative stress, inflammation, nutrient levels and methylation are linked to symptoms. The strength of evidence differs for each. A mental health label describes symptoms; it does not tell us what is happening in a person's cells. See the evidence
What does research say about helping cells work better?
Researchers are testing whether correcting measured nutrient or biochemical imbalances can influence symptoms. Some early studies report changes, but they are small, and larger controlled trials are needed. This is education, not medical advice. Please do not stop or change medication without your doctor.
