Pathology Testing for Mental Health Symptoms

All patients should have pathology testing included in the management of their mental health symptoms, a practice that is unfortunately not the norm.  Through verified research, BBH have identified fundamental changes in biochemical markers that relate to mental health symptoms, that can be measured and managed to significantly improve patients’ recovery.

BBH has identified a core set of blood and urine tests which are essential, interlinking and cross-reference with each other, to provide a comprehensive understanding of each patient’s biochemical profile with strong symptom correlation.  These tests provide the foundation for developing personalised treatment programs and for monitoring patients’ response to treatment.

The following pathology (blood and urine) tests should be part of the patients’ initial consultation/review:

  • Plasma Zinc
  • Serum Copper
  • Caeruloplasmin
  • Full Iron Studies
  • Liver Function Test (ALT and AST)
  • C-Reactive Protein
  • Folate
  • Serum B6
  • Whole Blood Histamine
  • AAL Urinary Pyrroles (includes Urobilinogen)

Patients’ personal treatment programs are tailored to address their specific biochemical imbalances and related symptoms.  By targeting these underlying imbalances, we aim to alleviate symptoms and remove the misconception that mental health issues are solely “all in the head”.  We believe this is real medicine backed by real science.

Our approach is driven by Bio Balance Health’s core values:

Mental health is often associated with a set of biochemical changes that can be measured and managed.

If we give the body the fundamental materials and components it needs to repair itself, it will have better capacity for healing.

We are committed to empowering both patients and healthcare professionals with this knowledge, fostering a deeper understanding of mental health and its underlying biochemical foundation.
